Mosaic Midwifery is committed to excellent, evidence-based practice for low risk clients seeking home and birth center services. Respectful interactions, quality education, and informed decision making are foundational to the care we offer. We understand that each birth is unique and can be a personal, family or community journey. We respect the myriad of birthing styles and have no expectation of how a client should labor or birth. We recognize that a community of support has a paramount effect on an individual’s experience during the childbearing cycle — who you welcome into your birthing space, is your choice. We would love to be part of your journey.

  • "Childbirth takes place at the intersection of time; in all cultures it links past, present, and future. In traditional cultures birth unites the world of ‘now’ with the world of ancestors, and is part of the great tree of life extending in time and eternity"
    — Sheila Kitzinger
  • "However much we know about birth in general, we know nothing about a particular birth. We must let it unfold with its own uniqueness"
    — Elizabeth Noble
  • "Imagining birth as the baby experiences it was an entirely new way of looking at it"
    — Frederick Leboyer, MD
  • "Experiences have clearly shown that an approach which de-medicalizes birth, restores dignity and humanity to the process of childbirth, and returns control to the mother is also the safest approach"
    — Michel Odent, MD
  • "Mothers need to know that their care and their choices won’t be compromised by birth politics"
    — Jennifer Rosenberg
  • "One is constantly having to balance the high expectations of modern health care with the need of respect the human soul. This is especially so with birth"
    — Benig Mauger
  • "In giving birth to our babies, we may find that we give birth to new possibilities within ourselves"
    — Myla Kabat-Zinn
  • "Birth is not a cerebral event; it is a visceral-holistic process which requires all of your self – body, heart, emotion, mind, spirit"
    — Baraka Bethany Elihu
